+ they have Gabriel Bortoleto who has won F3 in his rookie season and currently fighting for championship in F2 as well. Piastri needs McLaren more than McLaren needs him. He should be mindful with what he is doing.

 

"The guy they had to ask to slow down so his team mate could have a crack because they kept bottling it" isn't going to be a hard CV to shop around. If you're consistent and you're quick and that's a problem for your team, then your team is the problem, not you.

Piastri, like all of them, needs to ensure he is in the best car possible and McLaren look very good for that at the moment. Trying to time a move into another team hoping they reach similar competitiveness could be chancy at best and a serious cul de sac at worst.

 

Regarding the others, Hamilton may well retire from Ferrari but let's see how it all plays out first. He could have a McLaren stint in him if the Ferrari one is not too long. Leclerc could certainly leave Ferrari at some point and Russell could also leave Mercedes. Very few top drivers, if any, spend their whole career at their first big team. McLaren also have Norris and they could just build the team around him for a period if Piastri suddenly left. They are not snookered in the driver market at all.

 

If we're allowing for Hamilton to have a "final stint in him" at Mclaren, then I might as well delete my post  . It's based on a more conservative silly season.
