Hello. It's time to start talking about F1 again, as if it's been ages since it was last talked about.

It's the city of canals. Even though that has nothing to do with Zandvoort, but it just looks nice and is in Holland.

Alright that's enough.

Lando Norris fears that conditions during Friday practice for Formula 1’s Dutch Grand Prix could be “dangerous” as forecasts predict 80km/h gusts. Weather warnings have been issued for the local province, with officials saying there is a risk of disruption to all outdoor activities because of flying debris.

Stuff about whether Dutch GP still exists after 2025 contract runs out + desire for the event to be "car-free"

https://forums.autos...1#entry10697396

Dutch GP ranks 9th in average 2024 ticket prices (despite having the least racing track time of all Euro events, mind you)

https://forums.autos...4#entry10632393

This event also ranked #11 on your F1 race rankings, with 203 points (final unaccounted vote taken into account)

Lando and Charles commenting on the difficulties (and potential impossibility) of running in an 80 kmh wind.  It's going to be windy on the North Sea; who could have predicted that??

A Car-Free F1 race would be sort of boring.

Interesting that Max doesn't see himself in F1 for another 200 races in the press conference interview, so I wonder if the race would still be viable if Max was to retire after a few years with another team?

Mexican GP will surely end up in abandoned trashcan as soon as Perez is sacked, with this one and Verstappen I think it's 50-50

Not just still for sale.
We can't even find someone to take over 2 Gold tickets for half price.

Does this mean ticket prices are not affordable, or that Dutch fans only care about going to see a Dutch driver winning the race?

I can see why Max says he wont be around in another 200 races, it's approx 8 years or so.

I think Max will keep doing F1 until he is 30, so 4 yrs or possibly another 100 races - plenty young enough to do lots of racing in other categories at a high level post F1 (then perhaps we can revisit the Max v Larson 'Best all-round driver' question ;) ). Caveat to that being if he absolutely hates the 2026 reg cars he may very well jack it in earlier, though at <30yrs old he would still be young enough to make a comeback if he wished.

And yes, potentially him not being around could affect the viability of the GP. Just look at the German races after Schumacher retired...

It has hardly been dry for longer than a week this year in the Netherlands. Some hot days, yes, but also a lot of rain.

I'm going this weekend, and won't mind putting on a poncho.

I’m sure Alonso was saying similar things at one point… and Lewis spoke about retirement ages ago too

I bet max is still around in 10 years time

A small shout out to the wonderful volunteers of 'ambulance wish'

They were able to bring 7 terminally ill patients to the F1 paddock yesterday.

https://x.com/StAmbu...EulvQQUXag&s=19

Stichting Ambulance Wens Nederland is a Dutch foundation consisting of 270 medically trained voluntary workers who fulfill last wishes of terminally ill patients who are immobile and dependent on transport by ambulances, which are specially designed and developed for this purpose.

I’m on the UK East Coast and approximately opposite Zandvoort, it’s quite a violent storm here with very strong gusts currently.

Right now, the winds are not severe. Not in any way that I deem it useless for cars to get on track. But there is a "storm" passing by just around noon before FP1 with wind gusts and a substantial amount of rain expected. Could very well be that we see little running in FP1.

After a 4 week gap, I wants more F1!

The popularity is still there. But would you rather try and find tickets to a Grand Prix that was impossible to get to in the earlier years, or try and go to another one which is easy to travel to and tickets are freely and en readily available?

This has also something to do with it

https://www.ad.nl/fo...etrel~a3b26f20/ (Dutch, use translater of choice).

Platinum bought 35k tickets for 15m for 2024 and 35k for 15m for 2025 to be sold abroad.

For 2024, they still had 13k unsold tickets in June, so didn't want to pay their last term of 3.8m for this year. They irked that Max Verstappen also sold tickets to foreigners on his site.

Zandvoort kept Platinum on their contract and now the judge sided with the track.

Do we have the same in 2025?

Those Muricans aren't used to this Dutch weather. We Dutch usually go on our bikes to the beach, have some stroopwafels and swim during these conditions.

We cancel flights, close schools, panic buy bread and milk, and go stand on a sea wall to wait to be washed away by a giant wave.

There's also a very cool beachcombing museum at Zandvoort beach - which in a way, also seems like a very Dutch thing to have a museum about.

Far from me to enjoy deflating the tough image of the Dutch, but I live close to the beach and with this kind of weather there are only the fifty plus anorak wearing types to be found outside (like me and my wife). This morning we were alone on the beach with not another soul in sight for miles (except for the suicidal parapante-flyers, but they don’t count)

Hülkenberg off track again. Now in T1, previously in T9 and T10. Locked up as he started to turn in on all occasions. Struggling with symmetric brake pressure maybe?
