I wouldn't count on changes being 'interesting', but with that price tag they're gonna blow MSC Cruises, Heineken and Crypto.com out of the water in terms of CGI billboards

Big dollar high end conglomerate. In addition to TAG they have Celine, Fendy, Dior and many others.
tl;DR. Mo money, mo ads.

So we're basically going back to the F1 sponsors from the 90s?

LVMH own loadsa companies including Tag Heuer, Moët & Chandon, Louis Vuitton and other brands we can't afford.
They will be paying wads of dosh per year ($150m USD) to sponsor F1.
Goodbye Rolex.
Hello lots (more) of Lewis H fashion statements...

1:64 scale Hot Wheels F1 car. Don’t know how popular they are in other parts of the world but it’s been an iconic brand here for decades.

All very nice and dandy but will this bring 'value' to F1 (value to all the fans that is) - I'm sure Mr Andretti has an opinion on this.

All I know is that you can buy three family cars for the price of a single Rolex, and each will have a clock that keeps time just as well as the overpriced watch.

Yes but will the clock in the car be as big as the one above the pit lane?
Come to think of it, if they're replacing all the Rolex ones with Tag Heuer ones, maybe I could put a big Rolex in my car!

I bet the one above the pit lane doesn’t even have Rolex internals.

If it means getting rid of the obligatory shot of the Rolex clock with the minute hand reaching the hour before every formation lap, this is already the best thing ever.
I thought it was terrible Rolex never came up with a cleaner sweeping second hand. But I guess now it will look like a Monaco or Carerra.

The dreaded clock will change to a Tag Heuer one. The trophies will be presented in a Louis Vuitton suitcase. And champagne will be indeed Moet et Chandon.
I'd rather have Veuve Clicquot or Krug, which also belong to LVMH.

I will say, even though I haven't done it, I have always wanted a TAG watch, and it was because of F1. I've kept my wallet closed on this matter so far, though
Posted 10 October 2024 - 09:22
I thought TAG Heuer made F1 racing engines. Didn't Red Bull use them? Do they make watches as well?
This is a bit of non-news really. Just a change of the official timing, champagne etc. Yes they are putting all this money in, but the ousted sponsors are taking theirs out. Zero sum game really.

I always wanted a PlayLife engine for my car. Or a SuperTech.
Posted 10 October 2024 - 10:25
Renault may be the most re-badged engines ever. Mecachrome, Supertec, Playlife, TAG Heuer.

Slightly OT I guess but I happened to be looking through some Richard Mille watches the other day, because I had no idea of the actual cost (obviously I knew they were pricey though).
Ranged from between £300k to £2m+ per watch. I'll never understand why people will spend that on a single watch - however loaded they are. Surely the internals etc. are nowhere near as costly as those prices.

I was as well until I saw the £24 (in UK) price tag, and delivery middle of next year.

My cheap wind-up Timex lasted me from Brabham being champion in a Cooper until Piquet was champion in a Brabham. The jeweller said every part had worn out simultaneously, a sign of good engineering. I bought a cheap Lorus to replace it, which is still keeping perfect time on my wrist now. Fashion guru, me.
Posted 10 October 2024 - 12:20
So if you bought multiples, woúld they be Loruses, Lorus's, Lorus' or Lori?

me.
never did get into it. Around my age 14 I wanted and got a pocket watch. Wore it a couple of years and then never again.
Posted 10 October 2024 - 13:19
I've tried for years to get into regularly wearing one, but I find them too distracting and I rarely need to know the time. Thus, I only wear for business, or fancy socials eg its jewelry.

Then again watches are the only jewelry a man should wear.
