The important thing is seeing both drivers up to speed and performing well. Bodes well for the future.

For the accident itself, although a Sainz fan, I would say a 50-50 fault would be accurate. Sainz turned quite aggresively towards the middle of the track to cut Yuki's comeback. We saw a lot of similar overtakes in the race, but most drivers avoided to do that, probably because the chance of the overtaken driver losing it and torpedoing them would be aggravated by taking away buffer space. Sainz played it hard and lost. Of course, if Yuki had a better control of the car, this would not have happened but Sainz kind of forced the accident.
So far, his race was a better one, showing glimpses of his previous form. Nevertheless, shout out to Albon, which was able to claw back the Qualy deficit and be right on Sainz's gearbox.

Overall, I would say encouraging. But also slightly worrying that Alpine were able to run us strong, with their end-of-shelf-life engine.

What Beri is getting at is Albon should bot have been 15th to begin with.

You have to make your own destiny.

Then it wouldn’t have been Albon but whoever else was 15th that should have got to Q2.

It’s not that Albon was shafted. It’s that whoever was 15th was shafted.

Yes. And then we wouldnt have had this discussion in the Williams Thread. Meaning; Albon should have done better. Simple as that.

Albon was clearly slower than he should've been in Q1, putting himself at risk.

That said, in the race he was slightly quicker than Sainz and made more out of the harder tyres than others. The SC slightly hurt him as he was coming at the others ahead with a tyre offset.
