At ‘Dega they’d still be up from the campground parties the night before…
Would they still be throwing beer cans at cars, though?

I feel in NASCAR the under 34's don't have many drivers to get behind. Boring AF and too polished/California.

What is "too California"?
Polished yes. NASCAR, and sponsors, want what used to be called "metrosexual" types. IOW, non-rural.
Tyler Reddick is from Corning, California, a rural place towards the northern end of the Sacramento Valley that has a population of all of 8,000 and is known for olives.
There's also nothing polished about where Kevin Harvick and Jimmie Johnson come from either.

Without Jeff, or without something going against either Dale Sr. or Dale Jr., Tony...no. Or, at least not as likely. With the Talladega crowd, who can be certain?
This was a good example of doing the right thing, but for the wrong reasons . Reasons beyond the level of their knowledge or comprehension
EDIT: This was tongue-in-cheek. Nothing personal against Jeff. Now, if they'd have known enough to throw beer cans at Bickford, or his enablers...

"Too Hollywood" would be acceptable, although anyone familiar with Hollywood knows Hollywood isn't even "Hollywood." It does have the best Thai food scene in the country though, and good Armenian food, but I digress...

I suppose “too Studio City”, too “Burbank” or too “Atlanta” doesn’t have the same ring

"Too Croydon" perhaps?

Seen in an another post. I think NBC may be vying for F1 rights in the US as well. Six months ago, I wouldn't have expected Lando Norris to give an interview like that to NBC News:

So Diffey would probably be lead again, but who to back him up? Jolyon Palmer?Just watched a decent interview with Norris on NBC. At 20+ minutes long, they’re definitely taking their bid for the sport seriously. IMO, a much more enjoyable interview than what I’m used to seeing from the Sky team.
Edit lol, FLB you snuck in there while I wasn’t looking!

Yeah they did Indycar really - really bad! They bumped one race (last minute) to CNBC which got around 7,500 watchers. I feel it would be the death of F1 in the US unless Liberty had a solid contract.
This is the one way I see it working out well for us, with F1 realizing how much of a difference it made for ESPN to have ad-free race sponsorship, etc, and dictating those terms to NBC or whomever they sign up. If they sign with NBC and leave it all up to them, we're screwed. We (my family and the F1 fans we know) really, really, REALLY don't want to go back to NBC's insane amount of long ad breaks, etc.

Absolutely on the commercials and LD is terrible! I just got a chance to enjoy Indycar without him ruining it completely.

I just check my DirecTV Guide for this weekend. I don't see any Practice or Qualifying listed for this weekend, just the Prerace Show and the Race itself.
Just checked TVRacer.com Listing. It appears that DirecTV hasn't fully updated their Guide. Par for the course for them/\.

If we're to look at it from a purely commercial angle, Liberty could sell a big money deal to NBC. Their coverage would have the usual adverts and those who don't like the ad breaks can subscribe to F1TV.
For the consumer that would be annoying, but if I was the rights holder I'd be seeing that as a win
Exactly what I was thinking.

The races would have to go to network just like Fox does for Indycar. Except for Mexico, Miami and Austin they’re all early enough not to bump into Cup. My guess is same Sky coverage, no ads on the live broadcast (like ESPN did, only ads after the fact on demand or repeats). Quali and FP are likely to get bounced around. On ESPN many FPs weren’t on basic cable.

On Youtube TV, their guide shows all sessions on ESPN channels, but FP3 is listed on ESPN Deportes for some reason. I don't have Deportes, but FP3 will also stream live on ESPN3/ESPN+.
Times are central US.

Nah. They might do that, but I'm not doing F1TV again. I'm sure I'm not the only one ... esp if I have to do it because they sold to a network who shows ads during the race just to get me to buy F1TV. I'll just delay watching, then fast-forward through the ads. F em both.

Ah yes. The old ESPNU. That one can be hard to find. News and U are not on basic cable. If you can link your basic cable/sat/streaming to the ESPN app you’ll get it any of the English language channels except ESPN F1 from ESPN+. ESPN3 is streaming only. A couple times I’ve had them stream the Deportes feed live on the English channel. Once they caught it after a few mins. The other time they had to replace the on demand stream with the right version as the entire session was the Spanish language feed. The Deportes feed is the world feed video with Spanish commentary for the Mexico and South American ESPN markets.
