It's always worse when it's cold and wet.

No Tsunoda wouldn't have done better. How many times have we have to do this? Every year we hear this with just a different driver.
Seems you have been around here more than I have, but this is literally the first time I brought this up.

I just can't do it any longer. Especially with the amount of races we now have outside of decent GMT times (yes, boohoo Brits and Europeans). No way am I getting up at 3am now to watch something live like I used to 20, 25+ years ago.
No difference recording it and watching it when you get up. The only thing I miss is following the reaction on here. Plus you can fast-forward the ever increasing red flags.
As long as you are disciplined you can still follow the reaction here when watching on delay. I do it often

I’ve sort of done that before, but always somehow end up on the main forum page with a top thread of ‘LEWIS V MAX LAP 34 CRASH WHO IS AT FAULT?!!!’, lol.

Incidentally the coverage were abysmal as usual, following cars which had just completed a lap, watching the pits while the fast guys were on track, way to much coverage from inside the car - Hard to imagine it will ever be better, and since the drones messed up Alpine Skiing I had developed a fear they will do that to F1 as well.

I am sympathetic to the thread titles being spoilers but I don’t see a way around this, unfortunately.

No worries.
I get it, RBR seat #2 has been underperforming ever since Webber and Ricciardo. I don’t rate Tsunoda all that highly, but feel like he could have been a decent #2 if it weren’t for his personality. He seems a bit too blunt and outspoken to thrive in a team where the likes of Horner and Marko run the show.

1) max being terrific
2) rb clearly going his extreme direction
makes it an extremely had position to be in.
Maybe Lawson will do good. Too eary

Yeah… I’m of the school of ‘if you’re avoid a result, don’t go on the discussion forum for the thing you’re avoiding’ thought….I am sympathetic to the thread titles being spoilers but I don’t see a way around this, unfortunately.
But everyone is different I guess!
I mind the days it was easy to go all day and avoid an F1 result… but now I’ve got colleagues who are fans and my phone is desperate to spoilt the result across multiple apps/news feeds etc.
Nowadays if I’m not gonna see it live, I don’t even try avoid the result. I used to - and then watch ‘as live’ - but now I’ll seek the result out and read the reports/ rating thread on here to see if it was worth watching
Normally I just settle for the 8min YouTube highlight package if I’ve missed it. There’s too many races nowadays to be obsessed with seeing it all live

A few things.....
You have to start wondering if red bull are developing themselves into a corner with Max. There's no way in the world Lawson is that bad and we've seen gasly and albon suffer as well. Lawson did lose the day due to the technical issue but the car looked absolutely evil, really weird, understeer then oversteer etc etc, rbr seem to be going down avenues where sure max likes the car but is it really faster that way because he can't tolerate a bit of understeer? I mean the sister team may well built a car on par with them, tsunoda was not far off max in the end, so something is amiss.
I don't think the mclaren is as far ahead here as people are saying, both drivers hooked up good laps. It'll be interesting when we get to an aero track like China or Japan though.
What happened to antonelli and ocon? The coverage missed it but their laps were poor. Traffic?
Doohan looked hooked up, was really unlucky to miss q3 as he hit the yellows but he was right with Gasly.
Red Bull should ask RB to design and prepare 3 cars and give one of team in the pre-season.
Later just put your livery on and let the second driver drive a proper car.

Controversial view: I really don't like these new wide angle onboards - makes the cars look stupidly skinny

LATEST RADAR — Moderate-intensity rain is falling across Melbourne as the frontal system crawls east across Victoria. Rain of this intensity is expected to continue throughout the morning, before turning showery by mid-afternoon.

Let’s say they could make 2 cars.
Car 1, easier to drive.
Lap time Verstappen 1.20.0
Lap time Lawson 1.20.2
Car 2, harder to drive
Lap time Verstappen 1.19.8
Lap time Lawson 1.20.6
As a team principle, which car would you instruct your engineers to build?
As a team principle, if my engineers come to me with this option, I would choose 2. But when I find out that other teams designed a similarly fast car without compromising ease of drive, I would have a very nasty conversation with my engineers.

I don't think anybody can deny Verstappen is one of the all-time greats, and that RBR is the best team all around, even when they don't have the fastest car.
But that doesn't mean it's a level playing field for the other driver.

Suspect we'll see a similar race to Canada last year. Wet to dry and very cool temperatures.

I am not sure that what are probably varying levels of wet setups run in the dry are a great indicator of which car is fastest. They are inherently non-optimized for the conditions.

Yeah it was just a friendly conversation here.I don't remember a time where we had so many early races after each other (last year was the same I think). I rather like they would spread it out more. But it was just a bit of banter. I would watch it later but I know I would disappoint my dad. For more than 35 years we have watched every race live no matter what. Hospital and other things included. You know the world population lives mostly outside of the central european timezone?

"Showery" means less than "moderate" in this context, right?

FIA should implement sanctions to organizers for slow track operations rather than dealing with pilots' swears.
