Oh.. that’s more Byfleet and Weybridge than Woking. !!!

Considering how competitive McLaren were here last year even before their Miami GP upgrade they must be clear favorites.
Looking forward to what that car can do on this beautiful racetrack!
Hopefully dry track on Sunday.

Epic post to start of the GP Week!!
Back in the dark ages of arcade video games, Suzuka was the only track I couldn't master on Pole Position. It was infuriating, exhilarating and humbling at the same time. I'm certain I dropped a year's income for a college student in quarters in my futile quest to master this track. Not a single regret or wasted quarter. Love this track!!

In the red cars, I'm really hoping Lewis can find some confidence in the high speed otherwise this is going to be a massacre by Charles.

Yeah, China was the place were Mclaren were starting to be competitive last year (before the Miami weekend).
In Japan RB were in a league of their own, easy 1-2 both qualy and race

Suzuka. Everyone talks about the Esses or the WhateverDegreeItIsNowadays-R corner. But to me.. it's this one;
The car bending Degner Curves..

@fergieweather
#F1 #BBCF1 #JAPANESEGP OUTLOOK: Dry weather, with temperatures around average, characterise Friday & Saturday (noticeably breezy on Fri). A cold front moves NE across Suzuka later on Saturday night, clearing through Sunday morning. Chance of further showers into the race is low.

At least Woking has a seminal sci-fi novel set there.
It is suitably dystopian these days, what with a bankrupt council that owes more then the GDP of a small country and a Hilton hotel that keeps shedding its cladding if the wind speed reaches double figures.
But it doesn't have Brooklands which is in MY borough of Elmbridge (not yet bankrupt but trying) and that is just as well as the Woking lot would be trying to sell it to one of the Gulf states.

Wet Suzuka was the hardest experience i got on tyres managment on these F1 games. Sector 1 and 2 were the biggest intermediate tyres killer i ever experimented. Couldn't nurse at all, so went flat-out and one more stop than the computers.

It works well for bikes. I think a bit narrow without long straights for F1. Although I seem to remember Kamui Kobayashi making pass after pass there, so maybe it's a lack of imagination on everyone else's part.

It’s just always been too hard to follow another car closely, esp through long corners like Dunlop and Spoon.

I suspect the softest tyre being the C3 helps. At China they had to protect the C4.Strange that's it's only the third race. Expecting a real pecking order this weekend. Happy for three dry practice sessions.
Pirelli front pressures down 0.5, rears up 0.5. As Murray said after Brundle's Aus 96 shunt, "Miracle of miracles!"
I simply don't understand how they mandate lower pressures at a track like Suzuka, compared to say China, or Baku. It makes no sense. My only guess is that Pirelli's true weakness is standing waves on long straights. So bizarre.
Small to medium chance the track record is broken on Saturday, considering half the track has been resurfaced.

Lawson doesn't seem too bothered about the demotion. I feel a bit silly for giving a **** about him now.
Brother, he is just putting his best poker face ever to be profissional. We can absolutely feel for the man.
In the end, he is just still somewhat happy(delusion) to be still in Formula 1 for now and let his life go forward.

Yuki in P5 now.

Good time from Yuki but not a lot left in those tyres at the end of that lap.
Also lmao at Carlos missing the box.
Posted 04 April 2025 - 02:55
Lol, Sainz still thinking he's on Ferrari, missing his pit spot.
Posted 04 April 2025 - 02:59
What's Russell doing?
Posted 04 April 2025 - 03:02
Did Lawson have a time deleted? He was a bit higher than that when we came back from a break.
Good time from Tsunoda on what I'm guessing is a new pair of softs.
Posted 04 April 2025 - 03:02
Yuki P2 on softs.
Posted 04 April 2025 - 03:03
Tsunoda making Lawson's sphincter twitch.
