Did this race always used to be on so late? Was just looking forward to settling down for the evening and watching this, only to see that according to the IndyCar website, it doesn't start for another five hours?!

Come on IndyCar, think of us UKers who have work on a Monday morning.

Are you sure? Everything is telling me that the broadcast starts at 21:30 UK, i.e. in 45 minutes.

44 minutes to start of coverage.

Not sure what the metric equivalent is. ;)

I remember the CART races were at 4PM EST, so that the race would be over before ABC World News Weekend Report at 6PM (on ABC 22, Burlington, VT).

How odd. At least it still says 16:30 ET, which is five hours behind the UK. Settle back in for the evening sir, IndyCar awaits.

According to the event website schedule, "Drivers start your engines" is in 5 mins and the race starting at half past.

Is it just going to be straight in when the broadcast begins? Sky currently has VT rubbish on.

For now, it's still Major League Soccer on FOX 44 (Burlington, VT). 85th minute.

It's showing 6h+ for me so it seems the website is messing up some time zone calculations.

Maybe this explains why there's no meaningful timing info on the feed - their time machine is in the future, constantly out of grasp.

Okie doke.

In that case, I shall leave you folks to it and catch the highlights tomorrow.

Enjoy.

Was watching NASCAR at Bristol, while I have clothes in the dryer.

That would interfere with my NASCAR boycott.

Tough choice, but at least on the TV you can pull the volume down.

Usually, Long Beach was the race for pre-Indy announcements (EX: The 1994 Penske Beast).

If this is like St. Pete you get 11 laps or so and then it’ll be O’Ward’s on-board cam the whole race.

Wonder if they didn't tell Buxton to pack a jacket on purpose, or did he just ASSUME?   ;)

Ok, that's fair. I support anyone that isn't on FOX, just because of overpromotion and constant tie-ins

I recall when FOX got NASCAR and every anthem singer had to be an American Idol contestant

Oh, for the days when he would've been out there in the Celebrity Race alongside other actors, musicians and a Los Angeles sportscaster.

The singer of the national at Bristol today was a former American Idol contestant.

He may know something
about these tire compounds the
teams would like to know?

This starting lineup announcement is awesome. Have the drivers announce themselves and SHOW the cars they're driving. Takes me back to early 80s to 90s lineup announcement

Local Los Angeles TV has covered this far better than normal. A lot of driver interviews. Al Jr., Louis Foster, Devlin DeFrancesco, Dixon. Colton Herta's visit to the Pasadena Humane Society Shelter.

Only misses were a reporter (about my age) on the FOX affiliate saying "There's a lot more than just the drag racing going on here."  The FOX affiliate still had a lot of the atmosphere.

No matter, race "highlights" will consist of whatever crashes or car to car contact there is, along with a brief shot of a car crossing the line.

Yeah might be similar for me. New job means earlier starts.
