It actually looks pretty respectable for three bits of the Disunited Kingdom! Poor old Wales doesn't get a look in though. But isn't Peter Gethin really Welsh - Gethin sounds like a Welsh name, maybe? If only Tom Pryce had been spared, their might be some wins and even a WDC on the list for Wales.Originally posted by Williams

A little surfing shows Gethin as being born in Elwell, Surrey (England ?). Too bad, I would like to have seen a Wales representative in there as well. Losts of F1 winners from Surrey though: Gethin, Hunt and Surtees.
An interesting thing about Gethin's win was that he and John Surtess were the only Brit drivers with non-Cosworth wins during a streak that lasted from 1967 to 1983. Gethin was BRM, Surtees was Honda.

I imagine that is Ewell, near Epsom, in Surrey (where I too was born raised and still live). But that doesn't necessarily mean that Gethin wasn't of Welsh parentage. Ewell is a London suburb and London is a very cosmopolitan place. Maybe I'll ask about him in TNF...Originally posted by Williams
