Try it with an F1 car - next to impossible...

should make it a comp - fastest time round trial mountain with a cone using an F1 car...

Hey gang,
What I meant was - when you are in manual the cpu still starts the car for you at the start. So let that momentum carry you into the first corner before shifting yourself.
pRy,
Remember I threw my controller down in an earlier post and thought I broke it? It was because I was a tenth off as well.
I'm off again gang.
I had the holiday off but, now it'll be awhile before I post again. pRy before I come back I expect you to have the super license.
So here are my stats:
Complete 70%
Total money won $10,736,500
Race wins 360/360 100%
Cars owned 84
Total miles raced 10,928.9
Car value $37,868,380
Bonus Cars won 88

I got it about 2 weeks ago. The game is extremely cool. But........and this sucks big time. Today i have cut myself with a stanley-knife in my left thumb. And it's pretty bad, I sliced half my nail of. And yes it hurts. So guess what, i won't be able to play the game for days (weeks?). I tried but it just hurts too much. I tried the stick, but it didn't work. I kept saying to myself, mind over matter, mind over matter........But it hurts too much. The only remedy is drink half a bottle of scotch so the pain stops, but then I am way to drunk to play. Do I sound desperate? I am...I want to race....:(

 <---wish i had a working one.

Yeah, u are right. But I already have a Microsoft Sidewinder FF steering wheel attached to my PC. I play Colin McRae and NFS Porsche Challenge a lot. But I reckon that steering wheel doesn't fit the PS2? Or does it? (would be the best news in a week)

Besides that, my livingroom isn't that big and it already looks like a tech-center. So adding another steering wheel would be to much. But i agree it's more fun. :)

The game is class. Got my first F1 car the other day and also a Toyota GT one :D

Does anyone bother with the car setups? I find i just stick on a good set of tires up the power and go for it.

So is GT3 an arcade type of game or a realistic sim like GPL. How do the two compare ?

I don't know GPL, so I can't compare them. On the PC I play Collin McRae rally 2.0, NFS Porsche Challenge a lot. But GT3 is the best IMO. Just because the cars are so cool looking. Besides that it's great to tune them, shop for wheels etc. The car handling is pretty ok, I think though I haven't played the game with a steering-wheel yet. These things together with the sometimes absurd speeds (400km/h+) make the game a must for car and driving fans. But to answer your question, I think the game has a bit of both, relalistc and a bit of arcade.

Well just to add my thoughts on the game and I am more of a simmer than anything else being a massive GPL player.

GT3 when I first played it was wicked. The graphics are ****ing amazing and the feel of the cars is not bad. I long for a sim that models things like hot hatches etc on the PC. So had a few races and thought this is fun but then things started to annoy me.

The AI are as dumb as you like. They don't even know you are there and this simply ruined it for me. Driving next to another car and they just drove straight into the side of me because they were programmed to get back onto the same line. Also, out braking into a corner, they still turn in and hit you. Even if you are ahead they still turn in and hit the rear half of the car. Very dissapointing.

The tracks also felt very arcade like which I hate.

What I did then was set up a Clio spec race at Monaco and it was great fun but in the end I was playing with the AI. I could had got past much earlier as I was much faster but I knew I would be hit or turned in on so I just waited for the exact moment.

So, fun but very frustrating. If the AI was good I would go out and buy a PS2 and GT3 tomorrow but I know I will get very frustrated and bored with it very quickly just because the AI is so programmed, predictable and fixed.

Also tried F1 2001 and this was terrible, simply terrible. Not even worth mentioning.

Linus27,

Which F1 2001 did you try? Was it the EA Sports or the other one?

Jerry

Ah, not sure. It came with that F1 2000 DVD. Had a green cover and I think Murrey was doing the commentry. Does that help.

I am so annoyed that GT3 has crap AI. It was so much fun to drive.

88.5 % completed

About 100 cars. I just dump lousy cars...
Beginner, Amateur, Rally, Enduro levels completed

Two GT championship tournaments left (10 races with 10-15 laps each) and two Formula 1 tournaments left and i'm on halfway on the Dreamcar tournament (7 races, 15 lap each).

And I have question for you pals:
What car has reverse + 7 gears in the GT3? And where to get it?

In GT2 the Castrol Supra had 7 gears. All the cars have reverse. Use the triangle button. I haven't heard of any cars in GT3 having 7 gears, but I've got plenty that could use one...
