You're totally correct. I know because I took that photoIf i'm not totally wrong this is not a picture from a test. It's Rebaque during the 1983 "Race of Champions" at Brands Hatch.

Is this late-1972 Kyalami photo of any interest?
I thought it worthy of inclusion here as a) it's John Surtees driving, some two years after he'd retired and b) it's one of the very first runs of the Surtees TS16, which of course only ever appeared during 1973 GPs in either blue & white or all-white livery.
TS16 or TS14, the sidepods are certainly different from how they appeared in '73. It was these of course the mucked up "Big John's" '73 season, as he had designed well in advance for the deformable structure reg's, only for them to be relaxed slightly

I've just realised that you could have adapted this succinct post to answer both the 'Lauda's last race...' thread and the Gregor Foitek one! Impressive!Kelvin Burt what an A1 ****

A few pints of anything normally induces rambling, so succinct, in this case, is even more impressive! Succinct and accurate...Thank you. Nice drawings by the way.

Perhaps Markku Alen or Andy Wallace ?
I don't know. There are strange sponsors on the cockpit and engine cover. I don't know the helmet too.

Can anyone tell me who is the driver?
Judging by the sponsors logos it could be the Leyton House now owned by Kiwi Ken Smith, possibly taken at the annual Whittakers classic meet at Manfeild, NZ.

Kirk

I spoke to Gabriele Tarquini last weekend, and he told me that the car was equipped with a BMW Turbo engine. Can anyone confirm this? Does anyone have times from this testing? And when did it take place actually? (I beleive after the 1985 season had finished.)1985 Gabrielle Tarquini Benetton Hart test Paul Ricard

Nabil Karam (Rallyecross and Trophée Androsd driver) said he had a test in a Formula One car.
Any details what car?

I believe Nabil Karam drove an A1GP car or possibly GP2 , not F1.

I've read an interview with him somewhere where he mentioned that he had a F1 test. I suppose it's not with a F1 team but an older F1 car (2-3 years old) some years ago.

Wow, this really blows me away!1988 Scott Pruett Lola Larrouse Lamborghini - Estoril track
Scott told me about this test a year on, and I've long envisioned what his helmet in an F1 looked like. He said he was 1.8s off the team's best time of the day, with a signed driver (Dalmas or Alliot) in two sessions of about 10 laps each, which seemed awesome for a guy in that position. If I'm not mistaken, I think it was his first time in a single-seater!

When some one wanted some one to try out a vehicle in the U.S. these two drove a lot of different cars.

Pardon the pedantry, but the number of injection trumpets and small oval decal below the BP decal would strongly suggest this car is Ford DFZ powered and the absence of hump backed tobacco sponsorship would point to this being the LC87 model

REVISED Test Drivers
Formula One Test Drivers Archive
This is an attempt at archiving all instances of a driver testing a contemporary Formula One car. It includes official test drivers, Friday test drivers, one-off test drivers, and so on. It does not include instances of a regular driver testing during the off-season. Descriptions of the tests will appear in the future. Please post any missing testers in the Test Drivers thread in GF1’s Nostalgia Forum
Thanks in particular to the members of TBK/TBK Light for their assistance in posting pictures of many of the tests. Credit also to 8W’s test driver archive.
