SBDT Going Commercial / GTR Racing

I'm not sure what to think of this.
If the works good and of commercial quality from install through to licensing and then support then I don't think I have a problem paying. GTR2002 was certainly not that and it was most certainly a mod and therefore I would not have payed full price for it.
Lots of questions unanswered. What engine it will be based of? F1C? Do I need F1C to play it?
Time will tell I guess, but I have serious doubts that they can step up to a commercial level.

They cannot sell add-ons for F1 Challenge 99-02, simply because EA/ISI won't allow it
Why not? How do you know this considering ISI are helping them with there mods.

That's what i was thinking too..
As for them going commercial... if they can produce a standalone install, with the quality that GTR2002 (or even better) then i don't really see it as a problem. However, the simracing community has allways been full of free mods, and i would guess that there will be some free alternative mods that will have a pretty high standard, and then why should people pay for the simbin release??
Whatever happens, i would welcome a proper GT racing game either as a free mod or, if the quality is there, as a proper release.

Is there any news on how it will be released?

The time frame I heard a while ago pointed to around June/July but I haven't heard anything for quite some time. The version that has been shown to some people has been an alpha build so I wouldn't be thinking any earlier than winter (i'm in Australia) or even possibly spring.
Really looking forward to it though.

It looks great and you can feel every bump in the road (and I dont even have a FF wheel!!) but where is the weight of the car? The car feels very light, maybe thats as in real life but thats not what I expected from a Lister Storm.

Viktor, it's because you don't have a force feedback wheel. Get one and the car should feel perfect.

2:22 is my fastest time at the moment, this is hard !
Look how the right front locks up:

I found out about the amazing detail after I careered off the track:

Everything is modelled.

I got late home last night but could not resist... 2.17,1xx on 4th lap. On soft tyres...
This sim is going to be an icon one day, just like GPL.
I can't wait to try it again tonight, more sober this time

The sound is unbelievable.!!!!

There are some setups available here http://www.bhmotorsp.../downloads/2973
One guy claims he did 1.59.4

Maybe we can do some laps in Morgan as well
I can't wait for this sim. I want some racing!!!
By the way can you tell me how to check tyre wear after longer run?
#33
Posted 17 May 2004 - 23:52
My best on mediums is a 2:13.011 and I've done several laps in a row a few tenths off that so I should be alright for the longer runs in the game. I really hanging for it. Gonna have to buy me a new gfx card to be able to run it though!

If you want to put it on the steering wheel or jystic or whatever, when in the controller setting screen, it's not very visible but there is a scrollbar beside the 'assign button' panel and some more options below. One of them, of course, is pit limiter...

Thats it, I didn't notice the scroll bar, I found out earlier before reading your post, the way the info was presented, didn't make it look like there was anything to scoll down for, I was wrong.
Great demo though, the feel was realistic, the sounds of the engine, the up and down shifts, great stuff.

gotta say, when its released ill be buying the thing.
what i found nice (besides the actual game) was that it reckoned the minimum specs to run it was a 1.2 ghz processor..... the pc im on at the moment would only JUST scrape that in.. (athalon 1700+)... admittedly its only one car on the track, but barring a few jerky seconds actually driving out of the garage, it was pretty smooth.
by the time i get my new PC (hopefully a week or two), and by the time the game is released, ill be laughing.
loved the sound (the PROPER sound...can live without music) seemed to handle reasonably well.....could be a game i could actually get into.
the nascar series and GPL are still the only ones i play on any regular basis

Just played the demo, and I've got to say it's looking (and handling) pretty sweet.
Anyone else had a go?

What have we seen? Well, all the tracks are fully modelled (I didn't see all of them) in a wonderful color detail. We've seen all the cars are in the game, and we were able to play using the Saleen, Corvette and Ferrari. I drove the Saleen myself. It is amazingly real. If one wheel is still on the curb stones, don't push the gas pedal!
We've also seen the TrackIR at work. It is simply great! And we got to see the multiplayer working. The server showed the cars on a big screen, switching was easy. I was on the big screen next to me when I was driving.
We were unanimous afterwards, when we had a drink, that we were all going to buy this game.
However, Simbin didn't give us a release date yet (it has provisonally been set, though). For now, it is expected end September.

as you driven newest version, can you please tell me one thing: how is a car under braking and downshifting - that's what I found a little unrealistic in available demo, you can down shift very quickly for engine braking without risk of loosing your rear wheels grip

I haven't been able to do that in the newer version, but that could of course also be me ... .
Have you got "GForce simulation" switched on (it's a slider bar)? This little option has a vast impact on the ease of driving of the car. I imagin, when Henrik Roos is president of Simbin, the game must be correct in handling of the cars. There's a ton of video's and pictures, including a video of Henrik Roos driving GTR at Spa, at RaceSimCentral as well.
