F1 Challenge-99-02-2004 season update lap times, online session management

I've done a 1:44.7
Kanec has done a 1:44.0
I wonder if Enkei and G Doering, A3 are push the evelope and go beyond the limit once again, as I've seen from the past from you people.
How about some of you trying to get online and do some practice sessions, nothing serious, just testing and having a laugh, so quali and a exhibition type race, no points or nothing.
If you do race online or practice doing times, I mean just testing and stuff at Spa, we always use this server to create the game:
SERVER: ATLAS F1
Password: SLOWPOKE
even if your practicing, create the server anyway, you never know some of us might come in.
Different time zones and stuff, so see what happens.
AIM OF OUR ONLINE SESSIONS: Fun, nothing serious, help each other our in improving lap times, so we get pretty close for some races.
Driver aids: traction control-you need it at least low, otherwise it's too hard isn't it, gear shift assistence, pit assistence, clutch assistence, spin recovery-just to save time in races, spins costly and traction control on means, it's harder to turn the car
No other aids, especially stability assistence, this is a evil assistence I used in the past, and made it too easy, the 2004 update has more gripier cars, so it's already more easier in way.
Keyboard players: NO I've played with keyboard players, it just doesn't work with wheels, very hard to race against, and not fair for the drivers working with wheels. There's no stability assistence aid were using, and it's not really fair for drivers who've put effort into getting fast without it.
Thats it.
Spa times, get those Spa times in.

Such as setting
Steering Help="0"
Steering Help Functionality="0"
Half Rate="0"
Tire Sampling="1"
It will take a bit more hits on the CPU, but it WILL also make the game better.

I agree Mox. I say drop all aids except TC and clutch also. Go as realistic as possible, it makes the game a lot more fun.Originally posted by Mox
Can I just suggest that we all at least take advantage of the small adjustments you can make to F1C in order to increase the realism from arcade towards sim-racing?

We just must remind everyone of updating to it now.
C:Program FilesEA SPORTSF1 Challenge 99-02Save
It can be found here everything, click on your player name, then look for the PDF FILE, notepad etc, then change the settings Mox has told you too.
Tyre Wear and stuff, well since were not doing full races, I'm setting to X2, normal tyre wear might not be enough for shorter races like 8 races etc, I've doing some testing tonight, kanec's server, atlas f1, password: slowpoke.
TYRE WEAR: X2
In the options.
Let us all use X2 for the tyre wear.
Everyone doing this, if not, not much point comparing times.
CONFIRM YOU LOT HAVE DONE THIS

Had the race, Kanec won. But pretty close, my race ended at Eau Rouge, crash while trying to maintain a line without scraping Kanec's car. Massive crash, JV like.
Got a picture screen, I hit the tyre wall, then flipped over to the overside of the track.

I'm confused. What update?

Install F1Challenge 99-02 on your pc, go to www.emacf1.com and download the 2004 season. Make yourself a profile in the game, and you're done. Go to Multiplayer for online games

Yeah the updates are really well done. No need for copying files or anything as the installer does all the work for you.

Anyway, great stuff. Best I could manage at Spa in 5 laps was 1:54.025 in the McLaren (default RH2004 Belgium setup, all aids off except TC). I've got some work to do to match you diehards.

I haven't gotten the magic out of that set up yet, I think Greg Doerig said it best, a set up is suited to some type of drivers style, whatever PK is doing, it might just suit him better then me.
Remember it is a set up for one lap quali, and there was no fuel on on his sever, high cambers, that set up wouldn't last long in a race.
And I think about the race more, testing compounds out and stuff, high fuel loads, I go out on fridays, kick ass, and come back in, with good data for the race.

Saying that though, PK was insanley fast, Enkei got fed up and left, as for benchmarks, still look to Greg Doerig to be stronger in the race and quali, PK has alot to prove in his career still, maybe he's a trulli, quali specialist, we should not fear him, I bow to no man.

Expect more talk in the press conference tomorrow, order of appearance:
A3
Frank Williams
Kanec
Scott L
On Thursday:
StickShift
Ron Dennis
Greg Doerig
More to be confirmed.

PK was awfully quick. I haven't run at Spa much with the new mod but the best I could do was a 1:41.1. He was in the 1:40's and seemed to be upset he wasn't closer to the 1:39's. The cars in the new mod do have enormous amounts of grip, almost videogame-like, and it seems you can just keep pushing without going off. Not sure I like the cars being so easy to drive but maybe after getting closer to the limit it will become more enjoyable.Originally posted by SeanValen

BTW - what were PK's camber settings on his setup?

I agree it's getting too easy, especially with full TC.

Low TC is still fun but this mod does give an awful lot of grip overall. I'm thinking around 4-5 seconds around Spa from 2003 to the 2004 mod.

The cars sure are a lot more stable now, even with the oversteery setups I like the rear is rather easy to control.
