Is it just me (or more specifically France Telecom), or are the Atlas pages particularly slow to load these last few days?

I would be interested to know if any of you has been experiencing the same problem lately.

No problems for me, mate. Maybe it's just heavy load on the server? I should think this time of year has more traffic than normal.

Last week they were slow, but, not this week.

UPDATE #2: Slow again!

For each page, the download speed gradually drops to ridiculous figures, such as 200 bytes/sec. The thing is that other sites are working fine. Should I send an email to France Telecom to ask them what the hell is going on?

Pascal,

You should perhaps do tracert to see where the problem lies. I personally don't have any problems. Like someone said, there were problems a few weeks ago, but lately everything has been fine.

Regards,

Rainstrom

Pascal:

Yeah, there were problems for some people. If you were coming in on the UUnet backbone to Concentric Network (where Atlas F1 is hosted), page loads were very slow. I don't think the problem lasted more than a few hours. Everybody else didn't notice a thing. I'm not sure what the problem was, but I do know it had nothing to do with the server.

Best regards,

Paul

I have no idea what this means, but I hope this may help. This morning, the first pages downloaded at 5.4K/sec, but after a short while the speed was down again to around 500 bytes/sec...

looks perfectly fine and normal to me. It doesn't indicate packet loss or anything as such, so it's hard to tell except that your connection to Atlas is alright. I'm not very familiar with what causes net congestion and slowness, but from that tracert I'd say it's not the route itself.

Sorry

I, however, was unable to successfully ping the first five IPs in three separate attempts spaced 45 minutes apart:
1	193.251.109.27 nsmsr103.francetelecom.net 0.206
2	193.251.109.17 fe4-1-0.ncmsr101.paris.francetelecom.net 0.201
3	193.252.98.2 a2-1-1.nraub101.aubervilliers.francetelecom.net 0.197
4	193.251.126.170 p3-0.ntaub101.aubervilliers.francetelecom.net 0.178
5	193.251.126.146 p2-0.bagnolet1-backbone.paris.francetelecom.net 0.205
The results I get indicate that the destination host is unavailable. I am no connectivity expert, but to me this indicates the error is probably with France Telecom.

PB, I cant ping the francetelecom nodes either. But such a big provider canĀ“t really be down totally! They must dissallow pings in someway....

I can now confirm that the problem is definitely coming from France Telecom. For several days now, I have been connecting to the Atlas F1 website from Monaco, and despite an antiquated modem, I haven't had any problem from here!

I'll be back in Paris in a few days for further testing...

Grano, obviously you don't know France Telecom...
