SCEE is merely Sony Computer Entertainments European opearation who are in charge of the development and licensing, SCEA have every right to launch it in the US. Whether they will or not is up to them . . hopefully at $19.99!

5 screen shots of the game. It's not much, but still early days...

This shot is from an early development forum news link. No details other than this is one of the many games in development. At least this shot has actual cars in it. Sauber, Jag and what is obviously the walrus from Williams. Looks like a grey and cloudy day.
Those other screen shots aren't very enticing. Geisha girls? Who cares? :

You would think that there would be more information available on the development of the game than is currently available. You have to admit that the current screenshots are pretty lame.

SCEA claims that Studio Liverpool {the developer} decides which country gets the Sim.
Japan will get their NTSC version probably in september, as they did last year woth F1 '04, but that was not announced when F1 '04 PAL / Europe was announced.
we are in communication with Sony / SCEE / Studio Liverpool / SCEA to see who actually decides where the Sim is sold, and what we can do to get it here.
we are asking for the ability to buy the NTSC Japan version with English text, as it will already be 100% English commentary + alread is 85% English text now. we are suggesting that all they need to do is sell it @ their online store, no need for marketing / advertising if they don't want to.
check out our petition {below} thx

Dean please don't do this kind of stuff on this forum - if you want to make a claim, back it up with something other than your say so.
That's a publisher's job, not a development team.

Post it on here - and what does 'Frank' do?
...F1gamers isn't exactly an official source is it - the words 'salt' & 'pinch' spring to mind.

...but by all means, please - scan it - I'm still interested as to what Franks position there is.
Forgive my obvious distrust but you are new here, although some of us do you know you from...shall we call it, a previous life and you're making some pretty unsubstantiated claims.

I'm not sure i believe Frank, clearly he has no idea that SCEE / Studio Liverpool develops F1 series, but his claim about a game's producer deciding which countries release it is what i was concerned about. but we are gonna ask SL DIRECTLY who makes this decision + BEG for a US release of the NTSC version that Japan will get {only needs abot 15% more english text in menu + 100% english text in Career mode --though i don't play career mode -- all commentary is already in english}
needless to say, i replied to Frank + told him SL / SCEE develops F1, and he never replied

if a developer does not produce an NTSC version {therefore no US Release}, can Sony FORCE them to ?
and, wouldn't you think since SONY owns SCEE which owns Studio Liverpool, who develops the game, wouldn't it ultimately be SONY's decision ??
well, we are gonna try + find out for sure + try our best !!!

i'm almost beginning to think you are just having a go @ me.
this was in response to my request that 989 Sports / SCEA release F1 '04 in the US / Canada, because i feel that the future of this Sim will be enhanced by a much better Online Mode, and we'll need "legal" versions to get online + pass DNAS.
i was asking them to release it here in the US, and he claimed that it is the developers call on which countries get a version

regardless of the title he had in mind, he said " the producer has total control as to where it is sold worldwide"
that would mean EA / Studio Liverpool / whoever produces a title has total control as to where it is sold worldwide, in Frank's opinion.
i questioned that, and am gonna ask SL directly.

SCEA are a publisher as well as developer so if they want to pick up titles by other developers, that is their choice.

=============================
bottom line:
1. we want F1 '05 in the US / Canada
2. SCEE / SL develop / produce / make F1 '05
3. Frank implied that SCEA / 989 Sports {USA } do not decide if they can carry the F1 series in US / Canada
4. we are gonna ask SCEE / SL who does decide this + ask for a US release

You have missed the point...by a mile it would seem!
Frank’s opinion of what you asked him suggests to me that he thinks you were asking about the EA series. If it was clear to Frank that you meant the SCEE game, I am sure that he (in his position of VP S&M) would know that the choice as to whether or not they publish a SCEE title was SCEA's decision.

although SCEA is on the inside front cover [as with all US titles], if you look in the credits at the back it lists:
Sony Computer Entertainment Studio Liverpool first
below the names of the SL folks, you'll see:
Sony Computer Entertainment America, Production
it would seem S/L + SCEE are in charge, but stay tuned

i am getting the impression that SCEE / SL decides which countries get the sim, although if a SONY exec. higher up wants SCEE / SL to make an NTSC UC version, i believe that they could be "forced to"

GREAT NEWS !!! :
having the ability to "race" each other online, is the biggest reason to get a "legal" version in the US / Canada, since you cannot get online with a "modded" PS2, you need a "legal" / "un-modded" PS2 and a version of F1 '05 made for your country !!

is the handling any different ? heavier ?
I don't recall what the handling was like previously tbh, i remember not being impressed anyway. The handling for F1 2005 isn't 'heavy' at all, feels quite light infact and very arcade like.... but enjoyable though.
what about the "tear-offs", do they get removed when you are turning ?
No tear offs in the game, at least not in multiplayer/online mode.
working mirrors in Helmet View ?
Nope. Again there may be more features in offline mode, which is what seems to have been hinted about the online beta.
flag marshals still there ?
They are but I've never personally slowed down at the sight of a yellow flag and i've not been punished for ignoring them. Might have even overtaken 'under one'.
All in all the impressions i have of the game thus far are that it is completely arcade orientated. That said i've enjoyed the game anyway... nb i've won a fair amount of races, so that helps a little! Minimal lag so far aswell, so all in all i'll most likely end up buying this - if there is some form of recorded online championship then i definetly will.

one of us are going to meet with SCEE + ask a few questions / perhaps test it out .....
some questions asked will be:
1. Will the people in LA be able to go into a store in LA + buy the game, or will we need to go out and buy a ModChip ?, and be deprived of the new online mode ?
==============================================
2. Will we be able to drive the formation lap, the slow down lap, drive in the pits our selves, and will we see the safety car?
3. Will "tear-offs" be removed just when we enter turns ?
4. Will we be able to see our mirrors in the cockpit view?
5. What Historic Cars/Tracks are included?
6. Will there be accurate 2005 performance?
7. When is the release in Australia?
8. Will the Logi GT4 wheel be supported fully ?
35 questions will be asked of SONY, i'll keep you posted.
as of now there is NO indication either way of a possible US / Canada release.
fingers crossed, tho
