does anyone know where I can find all the commands avaliable in the chat rooms, when chatting I find others doing things which I can't figure out how they do it. I fed up with asking the other in the room how to perform these actions and feel it is making me look a little stupid

Have you checked the help page on the Atlas F1 chat? http://www.atlasf1.com/chat/help.html
For a very thorough guide on IRC (the chat protocol) and its commands, visit http://www.irc.net -- check out the New User Guide for a good starting point.

I'm glad someone else feels the same way...and I get the feeling that sometimes people are 'borrowing' other people's names.
thanks for the help

It's funny how we feel so much but we cannot say a word

You shouldn't feel bad about asking, and I don't think you'll look stupid. I only started joining the chat room and I found out how to do stuff by asking. People were very helpful. I haven't seen anyone new who comes on being shot down. We all have to learn somehow
And to avoid impersonation, register your nickname!

I was in the same boat too! BTW FordPrefect, you can put a password protection on your nick so nobody else can use it...

FordPrefect, it's very simple. When you enter chat, just type the following line into the space where you usually type your text :
/nickserv register FordPrefect <password> <youremail>
So if you wanted to use abcd as a password and your email address is fp@aol.com, then you would type :
/nickserv register FordPrefect abcd fp@aol.com
After you've done that, the nick 'FordPrefect' will be registered, and nobody else will be allowed to use it. If anybody tries to use it, they will have to supply the password.
However, you yourself will also have to enter the password each time you log in. So, the moment you connect, simply type in :
/pass abcd
You have 60 seconds in which to do this. I'm not in chat as regularly as I used to be. But I hope to see you in there soon.

thanks Rich for providing that info. I was going to add that info to my message, but I didn't have time
If anyone has other questions, I think this is a good place to ask if you don't want to do it in the chat room. Other than SeaMonkey, I thinkI've seen you all there recently.
Oh...and Slick...you didn't think I was a gorl? Oh boy, are you in trouble
