... the only problem is that it`s a Red Bull - I`ve got the same problem with playboy girls...they look nice but they aren`t stylish in the sense of beying exposed to everyone... it`s a commercial more than a car :/ ... but it still turns me on![]()
I also like Hondas tight rear and the bigplates in the sidepods, but Hondas front wings got to be the uglyest - crooked teeth ...
Mclaren is like a small pretty stylish woman, but looks a bit like a mess, too much make-up maybe...?
The Ferrari bores me, to me the car has looked almost the same for the last 5 years and the front wing looks bulky. Shes still got that old hair cut from the 90`s..
Toyota was born without a fashion sense, and it lacks that spark in the eyes and the same goes to BMW. Boring girls, no sense of humor.
Spyker is like a old woman in a discotheque - fatter than the young ones and not impressing anyone anymore. Kind of sad.
Williams is just middle-aged, sort of nice, but bores me like the Ferrari.
Super Aguri is not even a girl. Together with STR they make a ****** shemale couple with a bad self-esteem.
Everyone is already laughing at Renault, a decent girl gone bad. Like someone showing too much cleavage in a funeral![]()

I really don't like how it looks on track but in that photo is looks great.Originally posted by Always_Ferrari
For me it has to be the Ferrari. If you look at my user name there is no real surprises there, however I really honestly think that the overhead shot of the F2007 is simply stunning.....
For me, Williams/McLaren/RB in a tie. Honda isn't too bad either.

But this topsight is by far not the best angle from an esthetic POV, IMO. It may be impressive to show how tight the packaging is, but that picture does not make me go "wow what a nice car". And few or perhaps none of the present F1's would look really good in that view.Originally posted by Owen

There is a lot of spikes and teeths to cut other drivers' tires.

They designed an Anti-Fisi car.

2. Williams
Just like 2006, the McLaren is the ugliest by far - and that says something.

Personally, don't really like the car's tilted & bulbous look either.
Agree with guillo that the design of the Super Aguri's livery is interesting, but I think it would have looked better with a different combination of colours.
McLaren's "Silver Arrow" look has been messed up by too much red and orange.
The Red Bull also looks too busy and their website gets the "Pointless Launch Fota" Prize (where's the car?).
The Ferrari looks hideous -- like some kind of sci-fi gamer's red splayed-insect nightmare.

Williams and BMW have kept the same look -- dull blue and white, but at least there's no walrus nose.

The Honda black isn't so much reminiscent of the JPS Lotus (they wish

This view looks OK:

The Spyker looks alright, from what I could gather from their site, but it ain't going anywhere is it?
All in all, doesn't look it's going to be a banner year, aesthetically speaking. :

Of the past Ferraris, my favorite was the 1995 model. The overhead shots of the 2007 and 1990 posted above make a pretty remarkable comparison in simplicity and lack of....

The McLaren looks **** as they have just stuck a vodafone logo on the side of last years nice livery which has completely spoiled it and I now want to spit on it. The Renault has to many colours thats it. The TS and SA aren't even their own car so they look ****. The BMW is nice but I don't like white liverys. Toyota=same old same old.

BTW how much of a role did Gordon Murray actually have with the 1988 McLaren MP4/4? At the time, Steve Nichols was given all the credit. He had designed the 1987 MP4/3. Neil Oatley was given credit for the 1989 MP4/5.
Only in recent years has Murray been credited with the 'low-slung' nature of the MP4/4, but I wonder if this has to do anything with Steve no longer being in the F1 industry and Murray having more time for the journos this time. Didn't Murray have his hands full with his road cars during this period anyway? (i.e. the Rocket and F1?).
Perhaps Murray laid out the overall concept with Steven and Neil doing the details?

That's what I based my opinion on - And the Renault just pipped the Honda, Followed Newey's New and then old then the BMW. Everything else looks plain.Originally posted by mliem
Take away the paint jobs and aesthetically can you rate the cars any differently?

I like, although I suspect they'll do something with that engine cover logo, it doesn't stand out as much as I suspect they would wish

The idea for the F1 didn't occur until the Italian GP of 1988, let alone any actual work on it, so it certainly didn't affect the gestation of the Mp4/4. Murray didn't officially leave the F1 team for the road car division until 1991.
The rocket was an independant project for the Light car company and Chris Craft. It didn't have anything to do with McLaren.

I'm not sure, but according to posts in the tech forum the MP4/4 is almost completely based (conceptually) on the Brabham BT55, the very low 1986 car which was not succesfull and in which Elio De Angelis died. Apparently the problem was partly in the BMW engine (which was very powerful but had to be build in sidedown to get it low enough, leading to problems with the oil flow) and the gearbox. The MP4/4 got a specially designed, very low Honda turbo and had also a better gearbox, and now the concept worked brilliantly.Originally posted by Paul Prost
I voted for the Red Bull. Nice clean lines, with no chassis winglets and pod-vanes to clutter it up (no doubt they will appear in due course). It also has the advantage of having the cleanest paint scheme due to a single sponsor colour scheme.

Since Gordon worked for McLaren at the time and had certainly designed the "spiritual" predecessor BT55, he must have been involved at least somewhat in the design. I suppose that Nichols and Murray must have cooperated on the design, allthough we don't know who did what.
