In which we get to 12 Monkeys ourselves back to the year 2016, away from all the pestilence, and into a weekend of unsettled weather in Brazil. Where there's an F1 race about to start...

IT'S RACE WEEKEND! (of sorts)

We all need some F1 to watch, right?

So we're showing *that* classic from Brazil 2016 in full

LIGHTS OUT: Saturday, 1500 GMT

PLATFORMS: Official F1 Facebook and YouTube channels Lots of related content coming up too #F1Rewind

#F1

Fortunately, I have studied the relics of the 2016 world to help us contextualise this distant past and they include this excellent work to build up to the race:

https://forums.autos...-title-decider/

It speaks of a Nico Rosberg who is sadly unknown to us here in the future world, but who some scholars believe may have eventually triumphed in this season? We will never know. Anyway, see what else you can possibly dig up from the race weekend prior to race day ahead of this portal to the past to help us get into the spirit.

Then watch along at 3pm GMT on Facebook or YT and shout out helpful comments!

  to F1 for avoiding the clash with our 1998 Luxembourg GP watch party.

I'm definitely doing the 98 watch party and overlooking the boring official modern "classic". Gotta have standards even during the zombie apocalypse.

Put it this way. I watched Brazil 2016 and can't really remember what happened. I've never seen Lux 1998 but I already probably know more about what happened in the race.

Such an incredibly bizarre choice from FOM. Dead on arrival!!

The Rate the Race thread is quite funny to read.

All hail our Luxembourg overlords, etc.

I dont think it's a bad choice per se in terms of the race and how memorable it was. But it's definitely way too recent.

I first (mis)read that it was 2006 Brazil GP and had a momentary thought of "Why do they do Michael like this."

Oh well. That was still one hell of a race from Schumi, passing Kimi on the track and the torch in the meantime. One for the ages.

Got to be said, I have no interest in watching such a recent race, more power to the 90s F1 if it was me picking.

Isn't this the race the FIA stopped because of some rain?

If you'd asked me I totally wouldn't have guessed Haas have been in F1 since 2016.

Now, now, no spoilers :)

It's not very clear from watching this broadcast when the race is supposed to start and/or what's delaying them. The crowd look like they're having fun though!

Is this some kind of joke that F1 has been cancelled so we're watching a rerun of an F1 race not happening?

Interesting the things you notice when looking back at a race, all the shots of the drivers with the visors open on the grid showed how much the helmets have changed with the newest safety standard.

I remember the "always a standing start after the safety car" rule. I don't miss Bernie.

MB pointing out how you will always get rivers across tracks like this reminds me of 2003 and all the cars crashing because of overflowing piss from the hospitality area.

Pop quiz: greatest F1 driver called Paul? I can only think of Paul Frere.

I genuinely vaguely remember it turns into a barnstormer but when?

It doesn't take much to make me wonder if Liberty actually understand the appeal of the property they've bought, and this is one of those times.

It looked a bit dodgy but his car would've been in a dangerous place if he'd left it where it was.

Martin sounds genuinely a bit worried about the safety here.

What was the deal with this race anyway? The rain doesn't look too heavy -- was it bad drainage in important places or were the tyres not up to it?
