Damn what a sad sight, an older woman sprinting to keep up and carrying his stuff.

i've seen it a lot of times. Very weird sight indeed.

Amongst her various roles, she is (I believe) Hamilton's personal trainer - remarkably, older women are able to be physically fit. She also isn't about to drive a 305km race, so is able to expend energy doing her job, so that Hamilton can do his.

The check was a standard one from the FIA, no? Not RB pointing anything out (that was completely unrelated).

And I dont remember any example from the past where it was dealt with differently, but happy to be proven wrong.

I think he is angry that in the last race in Mexico we saw Red Bull running their rear wing with some bodged taped up repairs.  The Merc was 0.2mm out on one side and it's a DQ.  I doubt from knowing that that anybody would think there was any bearing on performance.  However Merc could not prove damage, which in the end was the sticking point for them.  Some penalties do seem draconian, like Danny Ric's penalty in Singapore a couple of years back.  But that's the way it goes.

And that is exactly the point. He is now making it look like something changed or that it's just harsh on them. We have a long list of draconian penalties that happened to a variety of teams, that is nothing new.

It was probably the best drive of the year.

He passed 15 cars in 24 laps. Those cars included a Ferrari, 2 Mclarens, cars with similar top speeds, and a few world champions. Perez couldn't make it past 1 Ferrari in that time in this years fastest car.

You're right, this isn't Fast and the Furious, you don't get any extra gears, special effects, or gimmicks. You just have to rely on your racecraft, taking different lines to get a good exit, pushing without destroying your tyres, being aggressive without crashing.

Yesterday’s drive was awesome! I feel sorry for people like you who can't admire greatness when it's right in front of their eyes. He'll be gone soon.

I think you're getting a bit carried away by the spectacle over the performance.

Lewis complained not too long ago that it was impossible to overtake the McLarens because they were too fast.  Was he driving badly then?  Or does he have a big car advantage now?  I'll leave you to work that out.

I agree he did a great job with his tyres, But you have to also factor in the massive car advantage he had when talking about drive of the year

Aye - just because some folk are older , doesn't mean we're not bloody fit! The cheek that these young 'uns have today - I turned 45 couple of weeks back, and I'll bet I can run a half-marathon quicker than most folk half my age. Bloody kids....

(and before anybody asks, my last 22km run was on Friday and it took me 1hr and 41 minutes. A bit slow, but I'm still recovering from injuries and surgery...)

Not talking about how fast he would have been, but if the times set with ‘illegal’ DRS (i.e. before the fix) would have been valid.

Ah, misinterpreted your wording. I imagine that any times set whilst the item was illegal would be accepted. It's likely not possible to establish at what point the item became illegal, though in this case it would appear the painter may have been a little light handed on the clearcoat. Red Bull, after effecting rear wing repairs recently have set the precedent, at least we thought that they had. Clearly not.

I’d agree as the DRS infringement would probably never be noticed if they’d just requested to be allowed to repair the damage. I doubt they’d put in their request that the wing wouldn’t comply with DRS allowances if not fixed. However, with Mercedes this season, you never know!

Alternatively she has to carry his scooter when the master decides to walk, once in a while.

Ah, just one of those things. ;)

I don't care if she's able to 'expend energy'.

I said it's a sad sight to see this woman running around to keep up when this prime athlete decides to go freewheeling on his scooter.

Bring his stuff to the car and be done with it, jeez

Bit of a weird thing to complain about. How is it a sad sight to see someone running to do their job?

2-3 laps is enough for Bottas to build the early stint buffer he needs

Also the chance Sainz shuffles Verstappen into Norris, Leclerc and Co.

Could very well end lap 1 with something like Max P3, Lewis P7

I'd love to see a repeat of Austria 2014. Nico started 3rd, Lewis 10th but they were 3rd and 4th after lap 1.

None of the other drivers seem to need a servant to wipe their ass.
But none of them are GOAT so I guess it comes with the status.

I have no problem with there way they are interacting, but it doesn't look very Sir-like or gentlemen type of behaviour. I don't see this extreme with other drivers, but that can be me.

But every driver has a PA to carry stuff and help them.
"Attack" Hamilton for using his scooter while she has to run, not for something everyone has.

Lewis is still 2nd favourite to win at 5/2 even starting from 10th.

Bottas keeping 1st after lap 1 will be critical for Lewis to win so i fully expect Max to be ahead.

I find this discussion pretty sexist to be honest. Maybe I'm overreacting, but I don't think this would be an issue if Lewis's personal trainer was a man.

Can we keep it to the actual cars and racing rather than commenting on peoples hairs or PA'S (who are also close friends)

You do realise that all the drivers have performance coaches/physios etc who travel with them and follow them around the grid.  Your problem appears to be she's a woman.  Oh, and Hamilton bad.

Today is all about track temperature and whether that gives Red Bull a bit of pace back.

If Perez gets stuck behind Sainz again then Lewis is going to have a great opportunity to really minimise his championship damage. If the temp swings it back to Red Bull then I expect Max and Sergio will easily get past Bottas and Sainz.

Fully expect to see two stops.

Seriously, did you even watch the sprint?! Perhaps look the highlights here https://www.youtube....h?v=abFGhepdBWw; even Stevie Wonder can see the massive overspeed he has..... It is okay to discuss things, but a single stat does not tell the entire story. The video clearly shows the overspeed Hamilton has, presenting only the speed trap figures comes across as nothing more than an attempt to find a specific stat that will support your claim. You do not have to agree with me, that is fine, but at least try and be somewhat realistic.

The 'protect Hamilton' filter was turned on because I believe it was that people didn't like Hamilton being talked about like that., which is fair enough I guess.

There's not a 'protect Hamilton' filter. I think the mods do filter low effort digs though, to prevent this place becoming like reddit or Twitter.

Yeah, there's always going to be that underlying doubt that the laying of resin onto the red bull's rear wing at the last race, was more to do with compliance of the 85mm rule rather than reinforcement.
