After a sizeable and diverse entry, I'm starting the voting thread for the 3rd Annual Formula E Circuit Competition.  Last year, maximilian won with his innovative design from Jacksonville, Florida, but who will come out on top this year?  For the first time, we have longer lap lengths entered, some of which extend into rural areas, perhaps reflecting the change next season to Generation 3 in FE.   Thanks to all who took part!

Anyway - rules for voting:

1.  Please vote in the poll for your preferred entry AND post in thread with your top 3 in order; this will enable me to separate any ties by using 2nd and 3rd-place preferences.

2.  You are NOT allowed to vote for, or include in your top 3, your own entry.

3.  Deadline for votes in midnight UTC on January 27th.

I'll have to give it to

1. Novi Sad because I know how much thought and agonizing cpbell put into this all year long, ever since we finished last year's contest!

2. Brooklands is really cool - reviving the legendary venue is a brilliant idea

3. can we do ties?  I'd like to tie Tokyo and St Martin.  Dang it.  Aw well, coin toss says Tokyo.  Sorry thegamer23 - your presentation alone deserves a win!

Agree re: the presentation of both the Tokyo and Saint Martin plans.  I actually had the Tokyo entry as my #1 until the Saint Martin one was posted.

Nice choices!  I feel really bad not including max's Tucson entry, but there were so many really good ones this year that I was always going to leave at least one out. :(

Guys - we have a problem - people keep voting in the poll but not posting their top 3, which may cause problems if there's a tie.

This was a great season for circuit design competition, gg all

Great entries, and it's never been this hard to come up with a Top 3.

Anyway, i'll go with my top 3, based on a combination between Track Layout, Presentation & Environmental connection.

1. Tucson e-Prix [Unique Track layout, but still very much FE-esque, well done graphic and in-theme environmental connection]

2. Tokyo  [Lacking a direct environmental connection, but it's the best, most realistic FE-esque Layout, and a very solid presentation]

3. Novi Sad [Solid, believable FE layout, and an overall toughtful entry]

Honorable mention to all of the other entries too, i feel bad about picking only 3 of them!

Entries such as PayasyouRace's Devon track, with an awesome graphic effort on the presentation side, or the meaningful New Orleans entry by Ben.
A lot to like there.

But that's the name of the game!

1 Ironbridge Gorge (The new Mecca of electric motors sport) also isn't Telford renowned for roundabouts?

2 Devon in Dartmoor, (would like to see carbonated Buckfast sprayed on the podium)

3 Newquay (to round off a rural selection)

This thread gets better every year. Why am I having to make such difficult decisions when I'm on holiday, you sadists!😁

Anyway...

1) Auckland. A long, sweeping course that looks beyond the confines of the host city itself. There is surely space on the calendar for one event like this each year.

2) Novi Sad. Probably the entry that had the most time and care lavished on it - and it fulfils the brief perfectly.

3) Saint Martin. Look at that scenery! The TV director is already dreaming of an Emmy for his broadcast. Meanwhile, the devastated areas of forest bear mute witness to the message behind the race.

So many honourable mentions: Newquay and Dartmoor could easily have filled the same niche as Auckland; Tucson and Brooklands are both excellent concepts... If I was voting again next week I'd very probably come up with a different result.

Same here.  I keep thinking "I should have had that one as my #3 choice" or something.

Very even competition. I voted for Brooklands, although potentially an opportunity was missed by not having the cars circle around former transportation of the future, Concorde.

Ironbridge second, Tucson third.

Fine but I'll have to read the original thread first! I've been to Brooklands recently so I could sort of visualize that one from the layout.

I did originally want to do have the track go past Concorde. The problem is that there is only one viable entrance/exit into the museum grounds and it isn’t wide enough to be both at the same time. Therefore that wasn’t possible.

1. Brooklands - partly sentimental but it also looks a fun layout

2. Saint Martin - probably the most practical

3. Tokyo

Honourable #mention to New Orleans

My votes go to

1 - St Petersburg - Looks good, would really work well as a real FE event. Deserves a point.

2 - Saint Martin - Love the entry, would love to see a race in such an idyllic setting. Outstanding presentation effort.

3 - Novi Sad - Layout seems entriely realisitc and I loved the background of the post.

Good spread of entries, folks!

More seriously, the closeness of the vote simply highlights the fine quality of the entries across the board, I'd have said.
