Most of the track was better than I expected.  The stadium is pointless, unless you enjoy looking at empty seats.  Maybe more Seoulers will turn out for Sunday's race?

I quite like Mortara usually but he well out of order today and karma bit him in the end.  Nice bit of reversing though!

Tomorrow's gonna be the last race of Gen 2 & the 100th Formula E Race

Hopefully it will be something special.

That's how it started, 8 years ago.

It’s a pretty large 70,000 person stadium, so I was fairly sceptical they’d be able to sell enough to make it look much more than sparsely attended. Looks like I was right.

I guess it maybe gives the event growth potential though? The first FE races in Mexico City didn’t exactly pack out the (much smaller) Foro Sol stadium and now it’s one of the best attended ePrix with packed stands. So I guess there’s that… but also the race has to survive beyond a few seasons first.

Ticktum got into the duels, nice. He's had a pretty good debut year.

I feel like Jaguar's issue all year has been getting in strong qualifying results, and that's really put them up against it on scoring consistent points. When he's up there, Mitch has been a winner, and in Rome the race pace was supreme enough to overcome a 9th place on the grid.

Vandoorne has been able to to get in much more consistent qualifying and much more consistent points finishes. That's the foundation of his championship advantage.

What a miserable drive from Guenther

Full safety car instead of FCY, guessing that's to remove both broken cars

The exit of the corner with the barrier was almost too narrow, leading to the outcome Da Costa correcting the spin had noewhere to go

Mmm I don't know, consensus in my living room is that Dennis should have conceded earlier

and the commentary team disagrees with us!

That’s a ridiculous penalty for Dennis. If you’re trying to pass on the outside then you have to be clear of them before you turn in. Dennis was in control of his car and had every right to be there

I think Dennis could have used more kerb/hugged the apex more and not made contact with Da Costa. But that would mean going slower, turning tighter and losing the place. Hence he chose to try and keep his nose in and made contact.

I think that's the logic Race Control is using, and was my first gut instinct. But I see both sides.

Too bad Vandoorne's rivals had various disasters in the last couple of races. The title battle was an anti-climax in the end.

He crushed them with consistency. Some redemption for last year too. A very deserving champion.

Vandoorne has been super consistent this season, glad he won it after being arguably the best driver last year and being punted out of good results.

WELL DONE STOFF!

World Champion, last of Gen 2 Era.

Now, a new chapter opens with Gen 3.

Completely different car, faster speeds, different kind of racing.

Can't wait.

Another takeaway from this race: Mortara struggles under pressure.

As soon as he was out of title contention he came back at the top after 4 miserable races.

Still, a great performance.

His overtake on Da Costa was one of the best of the season

I really like Dario and Jack, such a great duo,

But do wish they would be quiet for those short moments we get drivers chatting, would be interesting to know what Vandoorne and Evans are saying for example.

(probably need to be told by a producer what is happening on camera)

That was a good season of racing, the qualy changes and non-covid affected calendar really made it a proper championship. Well done to Vandoorne, a deserving champ.

Sadly the final race of Gen2 was a bit of a damp squib, yesterday was much more entertaining with the weather mixing things up.

Bit of an embarassing pile up at the beginning of this race, but the tight bits of the track didn't prove as much trouble as i feared.. still, i think FE cars look their best on tracks with faster, flowing corners (Mexico, Monaco). Shame there were hardlt any spectators there though, unlike London, Jakarta, Mexico..

The new car will quickly show up any circuits that are longer suitable for FE. There might be a few embarrassing races next year, I fear, but lessons will be learnt from these and we'll see that trend towards larger, more flowing circuits gathering pace.

I only just realised that Vandoorne finished with over double the points of de Vries this season. It wasn't Nyck's year, was it?

Got mixed feelings on that.. on the one hand faster more flowing circuits will definitely show off the new car better with it's higher power and top speed. On the other hand it is also shorter and narrower so there might be less clumsy accidents on tighter parts of circuits.

The exposed front wheels and less robust front wing might mean drivers are more cautious too, but when a coming together does occur it might be more dangerous.

sorry for the mistake. I bungled it up when he became champion before. Which is wrong.
