Can't see any posted photos.

I posted one today, everyone else can see it but when I edit it, the photo's visible, and then when trying to view it "poof" just white space.

Every other forum I'm on is working as per normal.

Please could you point to an example of a post containing an image that won't display?

Problem is evident only in Firefox for me. Functions correctly in Chrome and Edge.

It's literally all of them. So, for example, Ozpata's Track Maps thread in the Nostalgia Forum has never a map in sight. I'm viewing through Firefox, so YoungGun's comment gives us the clue.

No images for me anywhere on the forum.

Examples

Both show no images in Chrome, Firefox and Edge

My Edge doesn't have adblocker, so it's not that.

I'm on Sky if that helps.

Same issue for me, via Safari on an iPad.

Can’t remember at the moment whether it persists on my desktop computer via Chrome or Bing.

Just stumbled on this bug, as i posted 2 pics in the food p0rn topic in the paddock club. The pics showed in the post preview, and shows if i choose mobile theme, but not in the normal themes. Using Opera 98.0.4759.39 and Chrome  113.0.5672.93 (Official Build) (64-bit) with same problem/bug (OS is windows 10 22h2 build 19045.2965)

*edit*

The pics i posted was the embedded link that you get from flickr.com when you share from their service.

Yeah, changing to mobile theme brings back the images.

I inspected the page when using the normal theme. Disabling this width attribute makes the image come back.

It's across all my browsers - Firefox 113.0.1, Waterfox G5.1.6 and Vivaldi 6.0.2979.22 here. All 64-bit versions on fully patched Windows 11 Home 22H2. Doesn't work in Firefox Safe Mode or Waterfox Troubleshoot mode. All browsers updated this week.

Same issue for me. But as a workaround, you can quote the post to see the image, then cancel your own reply.

Something seems different with replying in general. For example, hitting "Quote" used to put the quoted post text in the "Reply to this topic" area at the bottom of the current page but now it's opening a new browser page to do it. Tried this in both Safari and Chrome on Mac OS. Same behaviour.

Same on Firefox. Once again, Silk unaffected. (Version 112.2.7)

Everything is still working for me on Chrome 109.0.5414.75 btw.

Mobile appears to be OK as well.

Asking a bit much to downgrade your browser in order to see images, although in the specific case of Ozpata's thread it may be worth it.

Agreed on both counts. Other browsers are available, but I chose Firefox because of its reputation for security, and because it offers some protection against the intrusive nature of Microsoft (who keep thrusting Edge and OneDrive at me) and Google (famous data gatherers who try to bully you into signing in to sites via them).

If there's been a change to the forum that stops it working on Firefox, that needs fixing. It's less clear cut if (as is more likely) the change has been made by Firefox but there's still a case for the forum complying with the highest web standards.

There does seem to be an issue on forums generally with how dll is handled, and calling dll can have security implications. (Disclaimer: I don't know what I'm talking about).

Oh yes I was being facetious -- everyone should update their browsers regularly and it's up to the forum software to adapt.

The fact that photos can still be seen on some browsers suggests that it's a forum issue. I tried my old machine today, (Win 7), with an earlier version of Firefox with the same result. Maybe Amazon are taking over and demanding you all buy Fires. ;)  If the developers were aware of this on Friday, they certainly don't appear to be in any hurry to rectify the problem, bad show to be honest.

The forum also appears to have lost the ability to detect whether I'm on a mobile or desktop device. It seems instead to open whatever theme was being used in my last session.

Asking a bit much to downgrade your browser in order to see images, although in the specific case of Ozpata's thread it may be worth it.

My used Edge versions are the 113.0.1774.35 (stable release version of May 5th 2023) and 113.0.1774.50 (stable version of may 18th 2023). Sadly I cant downgrade to test things out. Version 1774.35 has been installed more than a week ago, and in the meanwhile I did have the ability to see the pictures on this specific browser. So I am fairly certain that Edge version 1774.35 did show the pictures and that it must be something on the Altas side of things that changed.

Not that it matters too much I think, but embedded video's are still shown. Embedded pictures are not.

Seems we all are having different experiences with the same Version of Browser. Edge Version 113.0.1774.50 and Chrome Version 113.0.5672.127 in Windows 10  Version 21H2 work flawlessly for me. FireFox continues to be a problem.

Same problem for me in a Win7 PC on Firefox 113.0.2 (64 bit) and in the previous version too. Also in the latest Chrome version supported in Windows 7 (which is not the newest one as newer versions are not supported in that)

EDIT: On reader view in Firefox I can see the pictures.

I have also had a go at deleting a post and it didn't appear to work...

Then I edited it instead, refreshed and the 'Post Deleted' notification came up but the post was still there.

I've been using the 'quote' and 'preview post' workarounds to look at pics for several days, but it gets a bit tiresome as you only get part of the pic available at any time due to the size of the quote window and when there's several the problem only gets bigger.

I hope this helps someone (maybe give a hint to the developers).

I have found a workaround.

Go to a post that should have a photo in the post.

Right click and select from the bottom of the menu "inspect element".

Two boxes will open on the right of the screen.

In the top box select "Sources" and left-click.

There will be a list (about 10 - 12) of sources used to assemble that post.

One will be the picture hosting app (eg - i.postimg.cc). Left click and a list of photos will appear.

Left-click on each (it will be letter numeric format).

Another link will appear immediately below quoting photo tag given by the poster.

Left-click and the photo will appear in preview.

Right-click on the photo, select "open image in new tab" and "voila" you have your photo!

Sounds complicated but - not really

Yes, I know what you're saying - I need to get out more!

Thanks Kwissen, are you using full or mobile version? I downloaded Opera onto both the Fire and Win 11 desktop, both show pictures using the mobile version but not the full version. Same applies to using Firefox on the Fire, which I have also just downloaded. Is this all a ploy to get rid of the full desktop version?
