いらっしゃいませ

Welcome

これが東京グランプリです2024

This is the Tokyo e-Prix 2024

tumblr_ojumxsvQY91r1xpwxo1_1280.gif

It's time to go Fast, time to go Furious in the streets of Tokyo!

A race that's been in the making for years: a wet dream of the early Formula E championship, now turned into reality as the serie gets bigger & bigger each season!

Formula E, racing in Japan, racing in Tokyo. Can it get any better?

The hype is unreal in the city as they prepare to welcome to Formula E paddock for a two days long celebration of electric mobility, with concerts, events & plenty of stuff to do.

Are you ready?
あなたは準備ができています?

FORMULA E CHAMPIONSHIP
TOKYO e-PRIX   東京

March 29-30th

Green flag 06.00 GMT TIME on March 30th 2024

FRIDAY

7:30 AM - FP1
23.00 PM - FP2

SATURDAY

01.20 AM - QUALIFYING
06.00 AM - TOKYO E-PRIX

(all times UK)

FE LINKS:

Also, SATOOOOOO!!

F1 & Indycar legend, Takuma Sato, is the official ambassador for the Tokyo e-Prix, so we can expect him to show up at the race and maybe even try the powerful Gen 3 Beta!

giphy.gif?cid=6c09b952rbld1upzbwb2wd8irq

You're cool Takuma!

TOKYO is set to be one of the most extreme challenges of the Formula E Calendar!
A 2.582 km, anti-clockwise track that features all sorts of variety of corners & elevation changes!

GJl-JIB0b-YAAap-YZ.jpg

First sector is super techinical, with a sequence of slow-ish corners, but even here there are elevation changes that makes it more interesting!

For example, from Turn 1 to Turn 3 it's a downhill segment, than the circuits goes up towards the faster section of Sector 2, with a super fast right hander sweeper that's gonna split the man from the boys.

Even the chicanes on this track are far from being boring: in fact, they are quite high speed ones, where you're gonna need to carry out as much speed as possible.

Elevation changes and bumps makes it even more difficult: the last chicane is on a downhill, very bumpy. This spot is gonna be one to watch for drama.

A (wet) stroll around some of the circuit sections

Is this gonna be the new Attack Mode??

Formula E have been racing in a bunch of incredible cities like Miami, London, Beijing, New York, Rome, Paris and....well if i had to do a full list it would take a month!

But you know, Tokyo is something special.

So special, that some teams have prepared a special livery for the occasion. Just look at the home favourite, Nissan!

They've gone full Sakura with their look!

Nissan's Sakura livery for the Japanese e-Prix

Some of the Autosport members knows Tokyo for work!

That's the case of the legend, Jon Pollak, who sure knows what's the best noodles shop near the track!

Formula E sightings in Tokyo: a spectacular evolution of the Gen 3 concept has been spotted in the City Center!

Is this going to be what the Gen 3.5 is gonna like?  :smoking:

No, this is a tribute to the popular Anime Serie Cybre Formula. But everybody's been loving it on the social media, so....who knows

Dan Ticktum goes straight to the point!

13x1331x.jpg

What happened last race?

A LOT.

If you missed it, than this is a good chance to make up for the loss!

Sao Paulo delivered a classic Formula E race, with more than 200 overtakes and a last corner overtake that's already in the history of the sport!

With Sam Bird's winning and a title favourite like Cassidy crashing out, now the championship standings are closer than ever!

Anyone can win this title!

LOLA ANNOUNCEMENT!

LOLA is coming back in Motorsport and they choose Formula E as their stage for the grand return!
The announcement will be made tomorrow in Tokyo, as it may involve Yamaha as a technical partner.

This is set to be huge for the serie, as we wait to hear more details about it!

The rumors suggests that Lola may become a powertrain supplier or even acquire one of the current teams.

TOKYO IN THE MOVIES!

Talking about Tokyo again....this is a city with so much beauty, that has the power to inspire moviemakers.

That's the case of Sofia Coppola, daughter of the great Francis Ford Coppola.

One of her iconic movies its, without a doubt, Lost In Translation: a movie about two lonely people, completely strangers, that meet in a bar of Tokyo and form an unexpected relationship!

With a young Scarlett Johannson and the great Bill Murray, this movie captures the atmosphere of Tokyo like no other!

That's my tribute to the movie!

lost-in-translation-cranio-1.png

Artistic impression of the movie, art by Cranio DSGN

Also, fun fact: you know that one of the Fast & Furious Saga stars is gonna drive the Gen 3 car around the Tokyo circuit??

It's obviously Sung Kang: one of the stars of Tokyo Drift!

giphy.gif?cid=6c09b95273zcp3dr6ey71uy1pn

Talking about visiting Tokyo: there are tons of food guides and city tours out there on YouTube!
But there's nothing such as an evening walk in the streets of the Japanese metropolis.

So, relax, chill out, and let's take a 40 min walk in the
Shinjuku district!

Take your umbrella too, it's raining!

GJn-D68-Na-IAAkfj-Q.jpg

ANOTHER EXCITING CHAPTER IN THE HISTORY OF THE SPORT!

This is a huge event for Formula E!
First race in Japan, a lot of local media interest around it, all of the granstands being sold out in a matter of minutes.

Will you be part of history on Saturday morning, when the lights are going to go green in Tokyo?

See you then!  :smoking:

Think I’ll miss the major sessions live as I’ll be travelling, but should be able to catch them fairly soon after.

Looking forward to hearing about what Lola are going to announce though!

Sato also holds a completely unassailable FE record for fastest laps as a percentage of race entries of 100%. Something I’m sure he thinks about every night and values more than those Indy 500 victories.

The pink and red don't go together. If you're going to have a one-off livery, just go all-in on the pink (for what it's worth, if I look past the red patches, I really like it).

Rowland, on The-Race's FE Tokyo Preview said he though passing was going to be pretty tricky unless you were able to force the car ahead into a mistake, since energy wasn't going to be a factor.

Liking the faster part of the course, some Rome vibes

Big elevation changes all around

That was an eventful FP1 in Tokyo

LOTS going on: the main straight was still damp from the morning rain while the rest of the track was dry.

Curious!

The track is veeeery challenging, probably some of the most challenging circuits in the calendar. Cars are often sideways and at the limit!

Bumps, elevation changes, no room for error.

First sector is very slow & technical, very London-esque, than it opens up with some very fast kinks and a spectacular, fast chicane that's a bit reminiscent of Punta del Este ones.

Qualifying should be the key around there, but i think it could make for an eventful race too, with some SC's and drama.

Can’t say I’m a huge fan of the first sector, but it’s good once it gets into the street sections.

Probably best that way around to be honest as should be relatively easy to reconfigure the first sector in future…the streets less so…

Bird had things go very badly wrong, Fenestraz seems to have damaged the car.
