Rediscoveryx: It's really just trial and error : Try to see where they're much slower than you and try smoothing out the line there or trying a different line. I've found that the AI is by far the most time consuming aspect of creating these tracks. Or maybe it just feels like that :p

I mean, can't the pitcrew face the other way? Like in Stickshift's airport track, the pit crew is facing in the wrong direction.

Ah, right. Yeah, your pit area sucks, SS :p

The AI drivers drive down all the pitcrews when they're pitting, and so does everyone else really... no choice :

There's no good place to put the pit's at that track. : So I put them at the only place that was off line.

Fun track! :D

One thing I'd like to point out though.. It's a... feature I found when I was designing a track myself. As it is the shortest way around the track is by going through the pits ;)

I now try to make sure that doesn't happen with my tracks, just wanted to point it out like.

I noticed that too. That's why my Aspen track has narrowed pit end with walls. :)

Yeah, but you can still make it full speed :

This was also the case with my first track. There was a wall there but you could just zoom past it and get a much greater speed on the track. This wouldn't work on Aspen though, I think... But it's one way.

That wouldn't work. You have to pass through all the checkpoints on the track, doesn't matter if you pit or not.... see :p

Fun track, but two of the checkpoints are a bit ... bad :p If you go to far on the inside in the pits, your lap won't count :

I haven't visited the bb for a while, but I saw some of you on the GeneRally forum, and thought I stop by to check out what you had to say about it and to include a shameles plug for my tracks.

My first track. Mostly made while fooling around with the tools and trying different things. I still submitted it to the GR site as I didn't see anyone else using the export/import strategy. Download here, or through the download section on the GR site.

My second attempt. Done entirely with a drawing program, with the obvious exception of objects and such. Making banked corners smooth is a major headache, but I think I learned some from this track. Download here or on the GR site.

Schweet! :D:up:

How do you use the Import/export (aaaiii) feature anyway? I tried doing something fancy in Photoshop, but it didn't want to use the files after I'd saved them... (and yes, I did put it back to Indexed Colour) :

I just save with ctrl+s without doing anything with the formats. I have an old version of Corel Photo-Paint and it works fine that way. There is a thread on the GR forum about the same problem, and the creators are working on a solution.

Great game.

Download some of my tracks here:

http://rocksgr.cjb.net

They include the A1-Ring, Buckmore Park (real British karting track), Rocksring, Amazonia (my tester track) and Wadi Rum.

For more info on the tracks and download, go to the site!

Nice work everybody else.

Epona is out!

The layout is basicalluy an oval with a fast chicane, but there are 4 bridges to jump over, as well as varying textures (grass, gravel and tarmac). This is my favourite track of all I've done, so go and get it at http://rocksgr.cjb.net

You won't regret it! (hopefully!) :)

It depends on view. :)
I laughed a lot even before starting this thread when I hit the pitcrew, but that spectator blood was lovely surprise. :)

Apart from where you placed the S/F line in relation to the starting positions, great track! :)

My best time by far was a first lap and no way I can beat it on a reg'lar lap (12.61 iirc)... So hotlapping's not too much fun but the racing rocks :) One of the best racing tracks yet, in fact..

:D

btw, the start line is still ahead of the grid, but the finish line is behind the grid like at Imola and Magny-Cours.

Yeh, I know, but that means that on the first lap you start a bit before the S/F line, and even at full speed you cannot close that gap on your next lap, like. There's like .5 sec advantage on the first lap compared to the others.

Today's track: Silverado. Or actually yesterday's (it's way past my bedtime; making smooth elevation changes takes a lot of time). It's got kind of a wild west feeling over it, including a canyon and a bridge over it (which was a major pain to get right. It still is more or less oneway).Download.

Kudos to StickShift: your tracks are definitely among the very best out there. Haven't tried the newest one yet, but it looks stunning.

it has been a while since i raced at Buckmore, and the track has changed a bit with the new loop at the bottom, but unless something big has changed the cars go the wrong way on your track. When i last raced there(about 5yrs ago) the track was run clockwise.has this changed?also there is quite a significant change in gradient on the circuit.

All your tracks are great tho  many thanx.

OK - thank's for telling me!

I was working on an aerial photograph, and I guessed it would go in that direction, but as Sod's Law decrees I was wrong!

I'll leave it like that - racing is good fun going that direction.

Glad you like them.

OK... I've now released Skogstorp.

This is a real karting track which I converted directly from a map, so it is very accurate to real life layout-wise. For screenshot and download go to http://rocksgr.cjb.net

kart tracks are a good idea for this game,f1 circuits are to hard to make realistic for this game.I know the layouts of most of the Kart tracks in Britian, but my skills on the editor are way behind everyone else's.im going to have a go at making a few anyway.

I've found a way of doing circuits accurately, such as the way I did Skogstorp. I'm now going to try Melbourne.

In the meantime, try out Monacoast - my latest thrilling ride! http://rocksgr.cjb.net

Wayyyy too narrow. It's as wide as a Formula car is long in some places. Also the pitcrews are facing the wrong way. Good effort though.

I also think kart tracks are the best.

I am going to have a go at Sandown so don't do that unless you really want to.

By the way, this game really does rock and is so adictive. Many thanks for it. Can we have a man waving the chequer flag at the end?
