Perhaps it's time to see & talk about some of the old familiars from the 90's - Fogarty, Aaron Slight, Scott Feathers anyone ?

Er, yes, that would make more sense wouldn't it! I must think before posting!

If that is who I think it is, I think his helmet colours improved no end later on!

I thought I knew this, then looked it up and found out I was right: Baldassarre Monti.

I hope it’s not unfair for me to be in on these, as Graham has supplied me with a lot of pictures...

I know the BSB guys, but then they’re obvious aren’t they?

Mike mentioned Fogarty and Slight, so here’s a question: In WSB 1996, Carl Fogarty won four times on the Honda RC45, and Aaron Slight won only once on it but was ahead in the championship, and ahead 14-8 in races. Is it possible to say whether Slight was a match for Fogarty, and could he have won titles on the Ducati?

Another story........

After his massive smash at Daytona , Scott retired from racing and got paid out on his insurance . Once he healed , he was offered the chance to ride for KTM in their new Supermoto effort, and i was lucky enough to get the chance to race against him in Pheonix, AZ. I have to say that i'm a massive fan, and was gutted when Foggy pipped him in Philip Island after his tyre chunked .

In the week i was there he did ok in the first race, and then i was asked by Pirelli to show the, 'how the yooropeans' cut tyres. I did one for Scott , and he was was asking me all sorts of questions , which i kind of found funny, cos he was a riding god, and i was essentially a fat bloke on holiday.

The following week, i ran bar to bar with him in the main event at Fontana, passed him twice, and then we had an elbow banging session going into the dirt , and another rider fell in front of us & we both crashed taking avoiding action.

Sadly my bike took a lap to get going, and the instant the race finished, i had to jump in the hire car & dash to the airport, as we flew out at 3.30 , and the main didn't finish till 1.40, so i never got chance to have laugh about it after.

And he is the nicest guy, down to earth and knows how to have fun.

I seem to recall that Ducati LEGEND Giancarlo Falappa won both (extremely) wet races, Whitham on the Fast Orange Yamaha had a massive highside coming out of Clearways in Race 1 while well placed IIRC.

I was beaten to Baldesarre Monti, who was a very stylish rider of the time and sufferred awful injuries on his first visit to the TT :(

Falappa at Brands, as you say he won both races, Foggy fell of at Clearways on the first lap when leading, I thought Whitham highsided at Clearways in race two, (he did just checked), he fell at Paddock in race one!

It's stuck to the side of one of those thingys with lots of little storage drawers - The artist is a guy called Mick Fisher, I have one of the Iddon ones somewhere - they became quite the thing for riders to have - he even did me a couple of designs for Christmas cards  I just realised I posted it in the wrong place! Now, if you hadn't mentioned the Ant on the 90's thread...

I did Dan, still thinking about it

Seriously, difficult to say, but in my opinion, Foggy was the man on the Ducati, hard as nails and at the time not "nice." Slighty on the other hand, a great underated rider, and on "his day" could beat anybody, but not as consistant or nasty enough to out syc Foggy or Russell, Corser or Edwards. Only my opinion mind!!

PS cant spell cyc, syc, sike, or how ever its spelt!! :drunk:

Not that easy - it’s psych.

Yes, that’s Jefferies at Mallory in 1994. And I think your other picture might be Brands 1993: 1 Appleyard, 2 Lofthouse, 3 Mawdsley. I have to admit that I couldn’t recognise any of them.

I think your right it was 1993 at Brands,
I had been out in "Sarf" London last night and it was late... but correct spelling came to me as soon as I woke up, thanks Dan.;)

Well, I recognise Chris Walker on the Padgett’s number 18, which makes it 1995. Looking up the others, they should be (in some cases) :

4 Ian Newton
5 Jamie Robinson
7 Greig Ramsay
11 Robin Milton
(is it 21?) Mark Snell
35 Darren North
43 Lee Dickinson (fairing looks more like Gary something)
65 Gary May (but the helmet suggests Gary Haslam)
71 don’t know

There should be room for others to put me right on a few of the above.
