4 Ian Newton
5 Jamie Robinson

11 Robin Milton
(is it 21?) Mark Snell
35 Darren North
43 Lee Dickinson (fairing looks more like Gary something)
65 Gary May (but the helmet suggests Gary Haslam)
71 don’t know

There should be room for others to put me right on a few of the above.

All correct Dan, it is a GM on helmet of Gary May, #43 is Lee Dickinson,(it says Gary Hardy or Kirby on fairing?)
#71 is Woolsey Coulter.

I’m going to leave this to someone else, due to unfair advantage - but I don’t know who it is in the crowd.

No 252. Peter Graves on the Radio 252 Atlantic Ducati, possibly the year was 1998. I thought that Peter was not allowed to use this number by the organisers (this was before 3 figure numbers became common). He did mostly ride as no 52, so am surprised to see him on the grid with all three figures.

Yes your right Gripper, I read that only a day or so a go in an old RPM or Road Racer Magazine, it was as usual the ACU who would not allow him to use 252, the article in mag made the point about the amount of money sponsorship they (atlantic 252) had put in and the "free" advertising BSB Supercup were getting from it, but no!! Blazers and ties had decided no three figure numbers, its no wonder that there has been little in the way of "world class" riders in GP etc, no help from the governing body what so ever, just stupid rules for rules sake.
The photo is from 1996 so they must have relented their decision this time!!

Denning and Cobby there are on the Crescent Suzukis, and I think 1996 was the team’s first in BSB. They soon attracted Jim Moodie, and later the likes of Rymer, Haydon, Walker - before evolving into Rizla Suzuki, and winning the 2004 title with John Reynolds.

Bit of a guess. As the fairing has Norrie Lymburn and Groundworks sponsorship I think it may be Brian Morrison on the Castrol Honda RC45. Is it at Snetterton again and 1996.

I think Castrol Honda Britain managed to run Borley, Simpson, Moodie, Morrison and Rymer during 1995 - but not all at once.

Here are some more riders for you to identify. I'm fairly certain they're from the same meeting as the superbike pics, Knockhill 1994.

Well the leathers would suit Steve "Suzuka" Chambers ! Those pink splashy paint blob things (like the Fogg is wearing) were all the rage for a while - I seem to think the Japanese dreamt that style up -

James Toseland? He did ride for Mick Corrigan and I wonder if that is where the number 52 came from, or is that another story.

#18 is Moly, Dave Molyneux and that year was Peter Hill in the chair,
#19 a guess not familiar with those, colours... Steve Noble?
Knockhill looks a great place to watch racing, bit bleak on cold wet days I am sure but must get myself up there to take a look!!

One of the things that I really like about some of the 90's pics are the fairing designs - that blue & white DJ bike looks superb. I know it's just my opinion but the yellow Toseland bike proves a point. Single colour & dead easy to replace plus hugely distinctive too

Just had a new MotoGP Champ crowned... well done to Casey Stoner!! he came through the 125 and 250cc proper race bike route, 250cc racing what happened to it in this country?
It should be at BSB meets, not KTM dodah's and Virgin R6 Yams they will not produce a MotoGP champion!
Especially now as MotoGP bikes are more like 250cc bikes in that corner speed is back!!
Do you know who these two are? (do you care?) There are a couple of tiny clues to help!!

The only names I can find that might match are David Higgins and Mark Linton, but I don’t really know anything about them. Would this be a National championship race? These two are not from the school of messy crash helmet designs.

This quite difficult I think, though he is so well known, even by our Continental and probably our Transatlantic friends.
Have a guess who he is?

hi picblanc

I hope that this is an educated guess from your clues, plus the fact that I do remember him having a couple of rides for Oxford Products.

Is it Jeremy McWilliams?

At the time he was mainly riding in the 250cc class in UK and was before he moved to the World Championships so would be the early 90s.

Jeremy McWilliams’ early Superbike experience included Silverstone (where he was third in race two) and Donington, in the 1992 MCN series; and also Brands at the end of 1993 in the ACU series (as pictured). He was in BSB in 2005, but I don’t think he ever raced Superbikes in the Supercup (early 1990s).

A low res pic of McWill in 05 in his brief foray into BSB, he managed to take out a friends cousin (Richard Wren) in the 2nd race at Brands on the last lap!! McWill IMHO really did not want to be in BSB, he only did part of the year.
